The American educational system is sacrificing our next generation to financial slavery. If this sounds like an exaggeration, just consider these figures. Today, there are approximately 50 millions student loan borrowers. The typical student borrower owes $17,000, but around 2.5 million people owe at least $100,000 on their school bill. The number of people in default on their bill is more than 7 million. But according to a Wall Street Journal article just a few days ago, the U.S. has 101 people who owe at least $1 million in federal student loans.

How can we do this to our next generation? One of the major responsibilities of every generation is to prepare their children for a successful life. How can we expect the next generation to prosper with this crushing burden of debt?

Sadly, the financial crisis in education is only part of the problem. Our program will begin with this issue and then move to the spiritual crisis. Our educational system and philosophy has cast aside the moral compass, leaving our next generation without direction in a dangerous new world.

Terror has struck many parts of our world. Ethnic and religious tensions are leading to more and more violence. While many terrorist acts are targeted against specific individuals, many more are directed at “soft targets” where people have lost their lives simply because they happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Many fail to realize that the Bible predicted the rise of terrorism. It also gives the cause and the eventual solution to the problem—predicting a time when terrorism will be a thing of the past!

In June 2016, the Canadian Parliament passed legislation legalizing a framework that permitted medically assisted dying in Canada. Formerly, any act to assist in the suicide of another, or even counselling a person to end their life, was prohibited under law.  Canada has now joined several other countries in which medically assisted death is allowed, including several U.S. states. Such laws allow or force medical staff to expand their services from assisting the sick to recover, to assisting in the killing of a patient. There are many who view this service as right, needed by those who are suffering severely and have no hope of recovery. They view it as an act of mercy. Others feel passionately that legalizing a procedure to terminate the lives of the suffering as a devaluation of human life, and fear that in the future such can be used to eliminate the need to care for the elderly, the severely disabled and the vulnerable of society. Who is right? Is assisted death liberating or an impending threat?

Welcome to Tomorrow’s World where we tackle the truly important questions facing our world and ourselves. Former Soviet Union Leader Mikhail Gorbachev caught the attention of major newspapers around the world in an op-ed piece for Time Magazine.
Gorbachev is a student of history, and all evidence indicates he is a man who would rather have peace than war. Presidents Gorbachev and Ronald Reagan bought time for the world when they agreed to ratchet down nuclear stockpiles. The two men began what appeared to be a truly friendly relationship, following decades of the Cold War between the two superpower antagonists. Mr. Reagan will go down in history as the one who challenged the Soviet President, “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall.” And Mr. Gorbachev will go down in history as the one who tore down the Berlin Wall, setting free millions of oppressed people from a failed Marxist system, and this opened the way for the reunification of Germany. So when he wrote:
It all looks as if the world is preparing for war
People took notice. He further wrote in his January 2017 editorial,
The world today is overwhelmed with problems. Policymakers seem to be confused and at a loss.
Indeed! The world IS confused and at a loss. He named the escalating inventory of modern weapons a danger to the world:
More troops, tanks and armored personnel carriers are being brought to Europe. NATO and Russian forces and weapons that used to be deployed at a distance are now placed closer to each other, as if to shoot point-blank.
But the big problem is not Europe, although it is destined to play a vital role in the future. The real problem is found in the Middle East, specifically in the city of Jerusalem. What’s in store for this city? That is the focus of today’s Tomorrow’s World telecast. There is an answer. It is known, and it will affect your world and your life. Our world is in trouble. As former Soviet President and Nobel Peace Prize recipient Mikhail Gorbachev wrote,

Nowhere is the specter of war more probable than in the volatile Middle East. When nations were smaller, when transportation was on two legs or four legs, when wind powered ships, and aircraft didn’t exist, confused policymakers could only do so much damage. That has changed. Confused leaders can do immense damage in our technologically advanced world!
High speed communication and transportation connect us, but we can’t get along together. Add to this, incredibly destructive technologies: nuclear weapons, smart bombs, chemical and biological weapons, with missiles, unmanned planes and drone ships to deliver those weapons of mass destruction. It’s a dangerous place when policymakers in THIS kind of world are, as Mr. Gorbachev says, “confused and at a loss.”
Conflicts that start small in one part of the world can quickly spread to all parts of the world. In effect, no one is safe!
The tiny nation of Israel, and it’s chief city Jerusalem, are at the core of many Middle Eastern problems. The beginning of today’s problems can be found in the book known as the Bible. There we read of a man named Abram, later called Abraham. His wife seemingly could not have children. One day Sarai, who also experienced a name change to Sarah, came up with an idea that appeared good at the time. We read of it in Genesis 16:
So Sarai said to Abram, “See now, the LORD has restrained me from bearing children. Please, go in to my maid; perhaps I shall obtain children by her.” (Genesis 16:2)
Abram listened to his wife. A child was born and they named him Ishmael. A divine messenger informed the couple that he and his descendants would be difficult to get along with. Here it is in Genesis 16:12.
He shall be a wild man; his hand shall be against every man, and every man’s hand against him.
